That dime is really amazing...it doesn't look buried. Both are cool finds! Thinking about that 1730 Farthing...how long did those circulate?

Wow! I'd be working that place over after every rain for the next year. No matter how well a site is worked...there always seems to be something waiting to be found. In this case the find is awesome. Way to go!

congrats, nice that you found two coins, it is your passion for coin collecting that had landed you to this finding, any other person would not have cherished the possession of these coins

Congratulations on a very nice find ,probably got them at optimum depth in wet conditions for the Fisher detector,if you increase your detector head size for deeper results you may strike a lot more of those little rippers (Just a thought). oh P.S. mate found a 1865 U.S. 2 cent in the Australian Victorian gold fields,I posted it on the Aussie Gold finds thread that's if you want to have a look.

I dug up the coins and Gord dug up this thread The stuff has been anywhere from 2" to 8" deep at this site, I went back yesterday to see what else I could find but there was a big festival going on and too many people around for my liking so I left. I didn't clean the dime at all, silver coins usually come out of the ground just like they went in. Copper coins on the other hand do not usually hold up too well.

Whoa! Those are wicked cool! Finding a coin, regardless of condition, that's almost 300 years old must be an incredible feeling!

Scooby you have no idea...I almost peed my pants when I found the dime, then the farthing turned up a short while later and I was on cloud nine. The farthing is my oldest coin found so far and I do not expect to beat it but I keep trying! I've been back to this site a few times and I found a Half Cent on one trip but after washing it with plain water most of the detail is gone. I also found 2 Marine Corp buttons there that date to the civil war era, I will try to get a picture of the better one on here soon.
