I've found GOBS of LP1, LP2, & LP3.......both D & P.....but alas ......no LP4's yet !......

And no '09 nickels or dimes as of yet either !
(though a very kind CCF member sent me a couple 09 P Nickels.......I haven't "found" any at all...
Wish I could secure a batch of P & D dimes & nickels for this year !

I risk sounding stupid but what's the big deal about the 09? Why are the members above worried about getting enough of these coins? I've seen 2009 everywhere and I can order anything I want all my credit union and they will get from the mint.

Banks can't order you, specifically '09 Cents, Nickels, or Dimes.......they can order you just a general "box" of them.....not knowing whether they're a mix....all of one year.....or whatever.
The Presidential dollars and the State & Territory Qtrs are the only ones you could get at the banks......and these will generally be ONLY a D mint coin or a P mint coin....depending on where you live.
Now with the Dimes and Nickels for '09........the Mint made very few of these this year.......and they're hard to come by. So that's the interest in those.
Additionally.....neither you nor your Credit Union can "order" specifically 2009 dimes or nickels from the Mint......and only special for this year, could you order the Lincoln Cents on the Mints website. "The Mint" does not sell nickels or dimes to the public in bags or rolls or anything else.
Banks get "mixed rolls" full of all kinds of different old/new dates and mintmarks....they cannot order, for example a box of 2009 Cents....Nickels, etc. Hence, the "roll searching" hobby to find new and old issues.
Banks make their orders through Federal Reserve outlets....and this is how they come to them.......from there.

The Marianas Quarter mintage looks lower than either the nickels or the dimes.

ya the only '09 coin I have ran into here in Fl, through circulation and roll searching so far is One American Samoa P mint. pretty sad. a full year of minted coins being circulated, and I only see ONE in circulation before 2010? I know the licoln cents have had a very low mintage this year, but is the same true with the rest of the 09 coins ?

I've been finding 2009-D LP1, LP2 and LP3's
Lincoln Cents regularly in change around here.

Me, too! No LP4's yet. Most of the LP× Cents I get are BU, but I do
get some AU LP×'s. I leave those in "Give-A-Penny, Take-A-Penny"
trays. I have an AU LP3 in my pocket right now, that will go in a
tray tomorrow.

I've saved 85 2009-D Quarters from my pocket change, as of today.
(I have not received a Northern Mariana Islands-D yet)
The District Of Columbia-D was distributed in a much larger quantity
for circulation in Denver than the subsequent 2009-D Quarters, and
I've had four of them in my change this month (including one today!).

The 2010 Quarters will be even harder to find in circulation, because
the banks will not be able to order them from the Federal Reserve as
"commemorative" issues (as they could for the 1999-2009 Quarters).
Just like with the 2009 Cent, the Fed will only ship those out when
they are running low on circulated coins.

My bank offered uncirculated rolls of the Marianna Qtrs.
I secured one roll, and then a few singles for albums.......all "D" mint of course.

Yeah.....with the 2010 Qtrs......this sounds like it will be pretty tough to complete a P & D album of these......lucky with even one mint, by the sound of things ! And the "condition" of that one mint, by the time it's in our hands, could likely be very poor !

If you're not an Ebayer or a coin shop regular.....this will be a tough album to complete.......with any decent grades anyway.

OH NO!

If they're going to mint all those different quarters then they should allow the banks to order them. They are going to be tough to get then.

WOW 300 rolls of nickels and 150 rolls of dimes!? Nickel rolls are selling for like $30 and the dimes around$40. Did you get them cheaper and if so where can I get my hands on some?

Of course the Mint will be selling P & D two roll Sets of the 2010 Qtrs. for a VERY high premium ! ......
And if "that" is the only way to secure both P & D mints of the new qtrs in BU condition.......I won't be getting any ! ....

captainkurt- I got the rols after playing detective for awhile. After a few days, bingo, I got lucky. If everyone knew the source, the rolls would sell for $2 and $5 like they're suppossed to.

My son started collecting on November 5, with a couple of LMC folders I got for him. I had collected as a kid, but nothing really for a long time. Anyway, just by roll hunting, he's completed his LMC collection and has only to find LP4 Denver. He's also found all the nickels from 1956-2008 and all the dimes from 1965-2007 (needing a 2008-P).

Sorry, I can't tell you where the golden goose resides. I'll list them on ebay, when the time is right.
