I might be wrong but I don't think it has to have a full head for it to be considered a BU, the full head designation is just a how sharp the strike was and if all the details came up during the strike, it could still be BU with a weak strike. Again someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: Sorry biokemist6 we must have been posting at the same time.

Robert you are correct, the FH destination is just about strike, it has nothing to do with the coin being circulated or not

Bryan, Your suspicions are understandable ... all nice looking coins and not in slabs. This seller could make twice the hammer price with PCGS slabbed coins. I did make one purchase from this seller, an 1878-P Morgan VAM 116A (not attributed). He advertised it as AU and it was as advertised.

If you are interested in reading about the strike qualities of SLQs, I recommend this article(it is a PDF file).

I have purchased several coins from these folks and while the coins are ok when received, most of the pictures make most of their coins look better than real life. Buyer beware!

I agree with the comments about their photos. I recently purchased my first coin from them, a 49S fbl ms 64 Franklin. The coin was slabbed, so I knew what I was getting, but their photos looked much better than the slabbed coin when received. Oh yea, my ebay purchase of the franklin was about $40.00 cheaper than I could find anywhere else. That was my last coin to finish the set and I had been looking for awhile. I am happy with the coin.

Nice looking coin but I'm a little confused about the +++ after the BU? I would think this guy would have stated something like MS-65/66/67 etc. So far there were 4 bidders when I looked so that means there are 4 people that want a +++ coin.

Quote:Most BU SLQs do not have a full head(FH) which is why coins with the FH descriptor sell for a premium. A full head is one sign of a fully struck coin just like the bell lines on a Franklin half the bands on Mercs and Roosies. Doesn't seem like a bad coin but personally I would wait for a different one with more head detail.

I purchased a coin from these folks. To me, in my opinion, the actual coin did not appear like the photo.

BTW, thanks Saruma. With your link, I was able to figure out how to view just negative feedbacks for ebay sellers.

I knew which seller we were talking about without even following any of the links just based on the comments.
They seem to have a large following and get good money on their auctions but their reputation seems to be "the coin is not as nice as the photo".

ITs amazing that GSC popped into my head at the first message I read, had to go to the first page and read to confirm my thoughts...Indeed its GSC,,,, I bought one coin one time, it looked MS65 took the picks blew them up and examined them in every detail, but alas its more like AU58 to MS60,, after seeing how many times the same proof was constantly back on the block I figured that I wouldn't gamble with those guys again,,,,most everything they list seem "SPARKLING CLEAN" ultrasonic perhaps? I think they can stay up there by NOT HAVING A grade and us thinking we are getting a TREMENDOUS buy for half the list....That should tell us something right there!!
