Well if I were you and I'm doing it right now start to hoard pre-1982 cents in f-12 and higher from circulation because sooner or later they will have more value. just a thought I wanted to share instead of making a post for it

I think it would be well worth the time to search through them, even one of the key dates mentioned would be worth the time it took to search through them, even though most would need to be certified to be authentic (not saying there not, just saying if you are selling them most people wont look a second time at a raw key date because they were so widely counterfited) it would still be worth the time and money spent on them in the long run because some go for hundreds and even thousands of dollars which isn't bad for a penny

I have an estimated 50,000 Lincoln cents.

But, I'm not going to start searching through them anytime soon!

I would emphasize the "unsearched". Just about anyone selling wheats cents who claims unsearched is a false statement. Either they have gone through them, or they know they have been gone through so many times, it is not worth it.
But there are still definately treasures to be found. A friend bought a collection of ebay, wheats, merc dimes, and other stuff. In it was a 09 S, 09S vdb, and 2 or 3 14-D'd (I cant remember now, it's been a little while... I was thinking 3 though). Also in the Mercury dimes, there was a 16-D, VG+ to F. Buying everything as scrap, he ended up on top.
So may you have the best of luck in your searches.

Bryan, did you ever do anything with your 55 DDO?

No I put it back in the box it was in, of course I put it in a airtite before I did that, I figured I would wait until I actually went through the whole lot and then if I find anything else of interest I will send them all in at once. I really have no intentions on selling it so I figured it could just wait until that time. I may even see about getting the ones I send in pedigree'd with his name if possible, but I am sure he better have some nice stuff for them to ok the pedigree but I think that would be a great thing to remember where they came from even if they get passed down to kids in the family that wasn't fortunate enough to know him

yup, my parents and brothers started putting change in my piggy bank when I was born. By the time I was 8 it was jammed full (it was a large pig), I remember going through picking out the wheat pennies with my mom and she had them in rolls and gave them back to me a couple years ago. The rolls were falling apart, so I put them in a jar. So, these coins have been in my family's posession for between 31-39 years depending on when they got stuffed in my bank.

Not sure when I'll got through them.
