Did you have a particular year for this one cent in mind? I can check my stuff...depends on what your looking for.

Checking, I am pretty sure I have some of these years. I will be a little busy today, maybe tonight or tomorrow I will post some pics. Happy Easter everyone! Hope the bunny is good to you!

Alright then, I think I have an example of each. I was getting a little eye strained picking though the pennies. This is a side by side of 1955 pennies. The one on the left is small and the one on the right is large. These are the best examples I have, as most years, I have one or the other.

Lacoinic, those are a nice couple of coppers, great pictures. This is really a much better, clearer, and cleaner example for everyone.

"its a bit clearer, dont take it personnal CJ" It's a way, way, way, better picture/set of coins then mine! I am impressed with your reply! What a thoughtful statement, from a very polite young man. Maybe we will see some more examples of great coins in this category? Hopefully the show is not over yet...

I certainly was not trying to one-up CJ, I have problems seeing differences in varieties even with the small pictures in Charlton so when I get a coin, I take a 1200 DPI scan to compare and I find it a lot easier. Glad I could help!

I have not been able to find a side by side comparison picture of the 1955 large and small denticle varieties but I looked through all the 1955 cents I have and found one that seems to have larger denticles than the others. The large and small bead varieties in 1965 are easiest to distinguish by which letters point to them, but I have not seen much online about the 1955 varieties. Here is my first image. The small denticles are on the left and large denticles on the right. However, the denticles seem to be the same side on the reverse. Here are the obverse sides closer together for comparison. There was a pair on ebay a couple days ago but the auction ended and so I can't find a picture.

CJ and gregstempfle thanks for the pics, but I still can't tell the difference between the 1955 cents. Is there any other indicators?

The outside edges of the I in Gratia tucks neatly in between the denticles in small denticles coins. In large denticles coins, the top of the I covers over more than two denticles. If the difference is ambiguous, you likely have 2 versions of the large denticles (in the case of 1948).
