Have gotten 3 boxes + 20 rolls of them in the past few weeks. They are common around here nowdays. Also found a few in change that I got back using the self checkout at Home Depot. Put the boxes up on ebay and sold one for almost double face.

I bought the mint rolls but I still haven't seen one in change.

Great cent finds! I am still waiting to see one in change. Surprisingly, I am still seeing a lot of fresh 2007 and 2008 cents in my area. The 2009 cents are very rare as well, mostly LP1 and LP2 when I see them.

I have gotten one in change. I have a question - Is this the new cent forever now? like no more LMC?

@ needgames4lyfe: Yep, no more memorial cents, the shield one cent piece is the new Zincoln.

That is correct, this is the new permanent design. However, I feel very strongly that the cent will end as a circulating denomination in the next five years. If this happens, I suspect they could survive in the mint and proof sets like the non-circulating Kennedy half dollar.

That definitely is a great design. Someone should come up to Toronto and spend a few up here, maybe I'll get lucky and find one :)

I'll take Canuck designs and gold coinage anytime over US coinage. It's beautiful. btw I live in the US.

I think the mint is too big on this "change the reverse, or even obverse, to get people to collect coins" kick to let the shield last 50 years. I agree with jbuck that I don't see the cent lasting 50 more years (though I think 5 years is too soon), but if it lasts for a while longer expect to see different reverse designs.

Guess I live too far north or something because like jbuck I haven't seen any in circulation. I've also seen only 1 2009 dollar .

...And I've only found two of the 2009 designs.

There are CCF members giving the four different 2009 Lincoln cents and the new 2010 shield cents away for the asking. There's never been a problem getting them around here.
