I recently purchased two coins from them - both were very attractive, but after analysis - they were both cleaned - they did however - refund my money with no hassles. On the other hand, I must admit some reluctance in going for 3 for 3.

I wish Great Southern coin had their own website I would totally go there rather than ebay! I hate ebay and hate PayPal. They rob all of us blind, We pay all higher prices due to their fees. PLEASE OPEN OWN WEBSITE GREAT SOUTHERN! I love your coins!

I got 1931-S Lincoln that Graded PCGS MS-65RD for $175 on Auction from Great Southern... I am happy with that! Ever since I loved them but hearing back experiences. It books at over $500.

I found out the hard way.I waited to long to join a grading service and received cleaned, environmentally damaged and even counterfeit coins from GSC. It made me realize why their are graded coins now because of the dishonesty in coin collecting. I'll never buy a ungraded coin again!

Ive been buying GSC coins lately for the first time..I returned one of them no problem. The other 4 coins are very nice..Im waiting for some more . These are mostly Indian Head cents and mostly raw. They have a huge inventory which ceaselessly sells coins every day. Their ebay volume too date is almost 200k coin transactions sold and if u read their feedback it is almost perfect. Sending coins to PCGS is a crapshoot..i even returned a IHC I bought from Rick Snow because it came back..altered color UNC details.....Thats why Snow does photoseal..I will let u know when I get the rest of my GSC shipments in over the next week or two but so far I'm not complaining about their coins or service. And as far as the imagery goes..most images on ebay really look terrible but their coins stand out..you just have to read them correctly.

Back in January I bought a 1926-S Mercury dime from GSC.

Here are the images they posted on the ebay listing:

Now these are my own photos after receiving the coin. I kept the coin, and I don't believe it (necessarily) indicates a cleaning, but you can see how their photo techniques completely obscured the scratch just to the left of Liberty's nose.

Out of 10 coins I purchased through GSC in the past 2 months I have returned 4 and kept one gold coin that was overgraded. One of the returned coins was PCGS graded but I just didnt like it. I have to say that GSC is impeccable when it comes to returned coins..They make a full refund including cost of mailback..This being said I think that their heavy sales output is obviously making their screening process look pretty sketchy.....Its a lot of hassle to return a coin which also involves losing access to ones cash until it shows up in the account again....I will buy from them again but it will be awhile and I can understand the negative sentiment against them.

I no longer buy raw coins because of my experience with GSC. As a newbie I bought a lot, maybe 30 or so Morgan and Peace dollars that were described as BU. I liked the adrenaline rush of the auctions. And the pictures were really pretty. I Later learned from a dealer that many were sliders grading as low as AU-53. I had this confirmed by a TPG.
The fine print says they don't guarantee grades, but the headlines still scream things like Gem BU.
I read several ebay complaints about cleaned coins. Nothing I bought was cleaned, but I have been forever dissuaded from buying raw coins on the internet out of fear of buying a "details" coin.
I personally size GSC up as a place that sells a lot of problem coins that others don't want. I still get their emails and look them over occasionally. It even seems their slabbed coins are low for the grade.
I did buy coins from them that had no problems, and they are excellent on returns. They even let me return one expensive coin months after the 30 day return period.
If you are willing to look at GSC as an on approval dealer and understand you may not like the coin they send you, you can be like Cassidy and find some diamonds in the rough. I'm not.

Read this again after looking at their inventory on the bay.

Will continue to pass on giving them any more of my time or $$.

BUMP for others.

Gotta love the Great Southern Coin Company :) now let me add coming in slightly behind with an honorable mention are those mbarrcoins of ebay they got subtlety of mass sub par coin pumping down to an art. This is just my opionion...I can't prove any of it. For all I know their coins are works of true art? Or maybe not...ahhh nevermind.

I see their auctions have high visibility almost at every level and I shake my head. They can list a cleaned, corroded 1909 VDB LWC and it would be at $100 after 5 days.

Here is one they are calling in the title Uncirculated ++
Really?

High AU at best and photos are not the greatest. Might even be cleaned. The red circle is one of the first high points to wear, and the rest of the devices are relatively strong in strike. Those feathers are gone.
