I am not sure of this one as far as what VAM it is. As it is a repaired or reworked die, I think I need to ID it before it go's in. This will end up as a Vam-? a or b I would think. |

I have it as a Vam-31 very early die state doubled date 1880 and a centered mm tilted left

I will and should of said, 'from your pictures'.
I mean I could not make out the date that well ( dbld ) and the mm looks OK to me from the pictures....Bottom line, you feel you have it nailed down, will you still send it to LVA?

The photos do not show the depth of the lines on this one. The lines are in the die and are raised as well as terminate in strait lines into the devices. The reverse die is PL and reflects over 9 in. Readable too 7 in. with no cartwheels.
I plan too send it in it will most likely be labeled a Vam-31a. Polishing lines this strong are often listed.

It was hard to see the lines in these photo's because the coin is in a case but if you look on VAMworld you will see pictures I had taken a couple years ago (the pictures with the yellow tint)of this same coin, just look for VAM-41B instead of 1A now    |

That's some serious polishing lines. Very nice.
Can you see it without any magnification? I somewhat see it (right side - full reverse view). The glare is messing me up.

I believe I also see the classic Morgan rusted die foot prints on this coin..........

I just got this one back as well as an 1899 O. This is not the vam-31 but a VAM 70. Leroy stated it was just a EDS of the 70, the polishing marks are on the 70 with a slightly different doubling of the (zero). It's a PL coin so that makes sense. The 1899 O is a new listing as a Vam-7b Edited by twohawks
