The second topic was removed, I suspect, because its title and content still looked like an attempt by you to advertise your site, and to simultaneously criticise the forum for having rules which prohibited such free advertisement by new members. We generally don't waste time explaining ourselves to spammers, as I said in my first post in this thread.
You appear to have joined this forum purely, solely and simply to advertise your software. Nothing you've posted, in any of the threads and posts you've made so far, has begun to convince us otherwise.
We'd be happy to be proved wrong about this, but that's up to you. Your account has not yet been locked because we still think there's hope that you might become an active, contributing member of the forum. Join in the discussions about coins, ask and answer questions, reach 50 quality posts, and then you'll find us far more lenient towards you advertising your wares.

That's what I thought. You (moderators) deleted the topics (both of them) because you simply didn't take the time to see what it was about.
Well. My site doesn't need any advertising. And my site isn't the URL I added in the first topic. That was a web application (check wikipedia for a good definition) I am working on for maintaining my coin collection organized. Nevertheless I shouldn't have posted the link. But what surprises me most is your ability to know what I was about to post in the future. And there is no rule about that. May be you should write a rule for that. Like "If you think about breaking any rule, your topic will be removed in advance".
You are welcome to check my application in the future to see you were wrong.

What part of... Quote: Posting links to sites you own is not allowed until you reach 50 quality posts. Please do not be offended if you have a link removed. It's not a reflection on the quality of the site and it's not personal. ...don't you understand? It's not up for debate. The rule is not negotiable. Abide by it or find another forum to post on. Nitpick any more (Web application versus website? Seriously?) and I'll make the decision for you. We got along fine before you, we'll get along fine after you.

Am I supposed to fear you? You seem to be threatening me :)
I posted a link and that was wrong. There is no doubt about that.
I created a topic (afterwards) that wasn't violating any rule. And I asked why it got removed.
I get along without posting here too. I've lived 34 years without posting here so far. But that's not the point. I think that having a "Suggestions and Feedback" forum is for talking about the way the forum is organized. And searching for yet better ways.
But, may be, I am wrong.

Quote: I posted a link and that was wrong. There is no doubt about that. Thank you. I'm not quite sure why this conversation must keep going, then. Quote: I created a topic (afterwards) that wasn't violating any rule. And I asked why it got removed. And you have been answered. Quote: I think that having a "Suggestions and Feedback" forum is for talking about the way the forum is organized. And searching for yet better ways. And it is. If you (or anyone else, for that matter) have any constructive criticisms or suggestions, please make them. We generally don't put too much weight on suggestions from new members, since they're... well... new, and probably don't have much of an idea about how this forum works, but occasionally a new member might have a good idea. So far, I haven't seen any ideas from you yet (and sarcastic ones don't count). I should warn you, however, that the admin really, really doesn't like it when people come on here with the attitude that "I ran my own forums and I liked the way I ran my forums so anyone who doesn't run forums the way I would run them is stupid". We've had people do that in the past, and it's never had a pretty ending. So please don't do that. Drk's post count has now been edited back down to "1", since nothing he's posted, apart from his post in the welcome section, counts as a "quality post" for forum purposes; none of the other nine posts have actually been about coins. We don't usually advertise when we do this, but in the interest of openness and transparency in the way the forum is organized, I'm letting everyone know.

In my own experience as a forum user I have seen a lot of moderators (and admins) that don't moderate for the sake of the forum but for the sake of having some "power". And I double-quoted the word because that power is irrelevant and intangible.
In this topic you exposed the arguments for the removal of those topics. While there wasn't any doubt about the first one. It's very obvious the second removal isn't sustained by a real argument. That's my constructive suggestion.
But it really doesn't matters because you are the kind of people who moderate for the sake of "power". :)

Quote: But it really doesn't matters because you are the kind of people who moderate for the sake of "power". that's bull. do you see how many posts sap has? have you bothered to look at how many times bryan has contributed to the forum? how about tights24? the forum moderators put in a crap load of work on here. don't EVER say they moderate just for power. EVERY moderator on here was just a member on here before and just wanted contribution, not power

What part of "community COIN forum" is not being understood? We are guests here, we do not own this forum & therefore must abide by managements rules. Or go away.
Sheesh!

It's my opinion. I base it in my own experience. So far, I think the removal of my second topic was unfair. And the reason given is silly.
What happens here is I've been prejudged for posting a harmless link. It would have been enough just removing the link. Or the whole topic.
That's why I think they don't do a good job here.

Oh please.....this thread quickly became torturous to me soon after I started it....Everyone has now said what they wanted to say, all questions have been answered.
If anyone is interested in flame wars, I can recommend a site that seems to specialize it just that, but not here please, not when I so, So, SO regret starting this all in the first place.
Please honor my request (as originator of this thread) that it be deleted (nuked) in its entirety.....No good can come of its further existence.

Quote: In my own experience as a forum user I have seen a lot of moderators (and admins) that don't moderate for the sake of the forum but for the sake of having some "power". And I double-quoted the word because that power is irrelevant and intangible. If you have that much experience as a forum user, then you know it is universally unacceptable behavior to circumvent administrative action taken against you. Your second thread was simply a continuation of the first, lacking only the link. Without the link, it had no actual content; it was merely you mentioning the fact that you were doing something. If you're intelligent enough to write web apps, you're intelligent enough to be aware of how your second thread would be perceived. So we gave you credit for your perception by removing that thread, as well. You objected to that second action, and posted here. In some fora, it is required to take objections to administrative actions offline; here, we're a little more willing to allow these conversations to take place in public. Hence, the reason we've allowed you to hijack zeewool's thread. If you are *that* experienced as a forum user, then behave like it. Contribute. Be a part of the community. Follow the same rules everyone else does. Your work has merit, and deserves publicity, but not until you've fulfilled the same requirements all others, big and small, do. It's up to you. We're not going to lock you for objecting; if we make you go away, it'll be because you refuse to contribute. Ball's in your court, but this conversation is over.
