The rainbow toning is going to add some value to the coins as long as it's natural. The problem is how much value does that add? Well that is something that isn't really kept track of. At least I haven't found. I too absolutely love the rainbow toned coins. But I went with a much cheaper coin - Jefferson nickels

MY BOOKS came today!! well, two of the three. I have Red Book guide of US coins 2011. And Red Book guide for Morgan silver dollars. I am waiting for the one on Peace. I saw the one on VAMS, but figured first things first. I've had a horrible time trying to upload photos on here. I have never had a problem before, but I keep getting an error msg on this site. So, anyone that wants to see my first attempt on a 1890 Morgan, let me know and I'll send it via e-mail. I wanted to say thanks so much to all of you. What a friendly, helpful bunch. But now it's time to snuggle up on the sofa with my books, and football game. ( GO PACK GO! )

Back when I lived in Raleigh, I use to go to the coin show at the state fair grounds. The show is held usually in the Kerr Scott building. But its been years since I have been to it. Last time I went was in the 90's.
I was just in Raleigh over Christmas. Too bad you didn't take them out after the late Dec storm.

Well the packers sure put a beatdown on the falcons.
Sounds like your cruising along the learning curve at a nice pace. It's a great pastime, coin collecting, especially when the starter hoard comes from a family collection. Personally I won't sell anything my father gave me, but I'm a sentimental type. The 2x2's are a really good way to protect coins and bulk and extras can be put in rolls, plastic or paper tubes. Sooner or later you'll be getting coin albums, sounds like one for your peace collection is appropriate, coin holders with a "hole" for each year and mintmark of a series. These books are really fun to work on, and the holes create an interesting psychological obsession, you'll see. Have fun - steve

I didn't go to the coin show , it was just to darn cold this am, the playoffs were on and I wanted to tackle taking pictures. This aft noon the Bears are playing so I'm going now where and I still have many many more pictures to take. Coin Albums; my husband has already put the kibosh on that idea. Perhaps the thought of his ADD wife with so many empty slots needing coins would give him nightmares? LOL. I am about 1/2 through the Morgan dollar book, and I put it down and pick up the Red Book. My father, who gave us the collection, will be 96 in a few days and to honor him I am picking out as many of the less expensive but decent quality 1915 coins I can find. I don't have any Barber dimes, so I thought that might be a good place to begin. Armed with my RedBook, I've been searching E-bay and as an experienced E-bay shopper, it's loads of fun plus I get to examine loads of coins, compare good prices with grade and really look at many examples before I bid. I read in the Morgan book about dies and mints and I found that so interesting. I would love to see an old one that minted the Morgans, is there a museum on the east coast or south I might visit that has an exhibit of one?

coinster, I think you're right. I have all my coins photographed thanks to Super Dave tutorial, and suggestions from many others. I am dissipointed that I can't figure out how to reduce the pics to 100 so I can upload on this site. Believe me, I've tried, my to much language I just don't understand.I'm going to have them put onto a disc at Walgreens, then take most of them back to the bank. Still trying to research my 1922D peace in Uncirculated condision. It's just beautiful. hopefully my book on Peace dollars comes today, as I've almost finshed the one on Morgans. everytime I finish a chapt. I have to get out the coins and check for marks! ROFL. I have a couple beauts! when I get my sel sorted, I may have to go see Bryan.... Hey Bryan, ya here that? or maybe invite him up here for dinner.

Sunny, I just open the pics up in paint, reduce the size to about 30% of the original mega size, and it almost always comes in under 90K.

I think the bug has got her. You aren't too likely to be able to find some place where you can see an old Morgan dollar die. They are very rare and only a few are still in existence. The best chance might be at the Carson City Mint museum. About a decade ago a group of them were found under a sidewalk while they were doing renovations. Unfortunately most of them were severely corroded.

I think you're right! ok I have it open in my paint file, now how do I resize. give me a step by step. I think I just go to file, then I have to click on the save, at the bottom of the window, but no idea which choice. or if this is right.
