Very good, CEO. Now do you know why some churches start their sunday services at 10:09?

Real Q, a church down the street from my shop does it. Clue: there's a Biblical reason.

Quote: speak bad English long enough, and you get used to it.
They only minted the Cu-Ni version at the Denver mint. Not true, they also minted it at Philadelphia.
They only minted the silver version at the San Francisco mint. Not true, they also minted it at Philadelphia.
Do you see the difference now? Yes. Had you imparted that wisdom when you made your comment, I would have conceded it at that time. As I said, I was not implying that you were wrong, just that I did not see an issue with it. However, the problem is not my grammar. Grammatically, the sentence is soundly constructed. What I said, however, was a factual error. Although it may be untrue, "The dog walked the man" is still grammatically correct. That being said, I obsessed with the grammar and totally overlooked the logical error. So, before you criticize others, make sure your own house is in order; or at least be less ambiguous about your reasons so I can learn something.

OK, now parse "all that glitters is not gold" and see why that probably wasn't what the man meant to say.
BTW, what he probably meant doesn't sound right, either, so everyone repeats a saying that is just plain wrong.

BF: I was glad to see your clarification. In defense of others, though... Quote: Not true, they also minted it at Philadelphia.
is bad use of punctuation. And I agree with jbuck that the grammar was fine. The truth of the statement (as you correctly pointed out) was the problem.

How about this for crystal clarity... 1942 Five Cent ProductionThe Philadelphia minted both versions, Cu-Ni and silver. The Denver minted the Cu-Ni version, but not silver version. The San Francisco minted the silver version, but no Cu-Ni version. Ultimately I only care that what I say is numismatically correct, and I thank biggfredd for pointing that out (regardless of terminology used).

OK ... so back to the OP question if we may ... Geepers ... you folks sure can go sideways on tangets. Quote:Been roll searching the last few days and I found a 1942 nickel with a D mint mark but it is next to the building not above it like the War Nickels, so is this anything? I also have a 1969 S that is in great condition, how can I tell if it is a proof coin? I say jbuck has nailed the question on the 42-D with his reply above ... you coin rkrj is a Cu-Ni version .. not a war silver ... but still a tough coin to find in circulation today. A keeper for sure but not worth much of a premium unless in MS condition. As to your 1969-S ... photos are needed to be sure ... but in general proofs are like pornography ... hard to define but you know it when you see it. In general ... proofs have a mirror finish in the fields ... are obvious in the bold strike and have square rims. Show us a photo of the 69-S ... BTW ... that is a tough coin to find in nice circulated condition as well ... so I am looking forward to seeing it. David

Until you get into early proof Lincolns and branch mint proofs, and then even the experts can disagree.
