You can short circuit most cashiers' brains by giving them $10.06 for a $7.31 purchase.

This is called "minimizing your coin change received": In this case, you get three Quarters back instead of the two Quarters, a Dime, a Nickel and four Cents you'd get if you'd handed them only the $10 note.
biggfredd and I know this by heart, but it is worth explaining.

My favorite are the cashiers who are puzzled as to why I'm handing them $21.17 for a $6.17 purchase (when a "twenty" would do, right?), and they're most likely the same cashiers who are wondering why they're always running low on "ones".

I love that typo (?) "short circus"

They look at me like I'm from Mars. I then tell them "Just type in the amount I gave you" and then when the amount of change due comes up on their display, they are amazed at my mathematical prowess!

I occasionally leave a dateless Buffalo nickel or an obsolete cull amidst tip money at a restaurant.

The half dollar use can be fun, but cars do tend to get honkingly backed-up at the drive through windows. Most 18 year olds have never seen a half dollar.

I know I am weird, but I love slipping a dateless IHC into the penny change bowl on the counter or leave a Buff 5 cent with the tip at the bar.

I did spend an 1893 Columbian Expostion half dollar on the Boston subway when I was a kid - Charlie on the MBTA type situation, was all I had on me. I recall the coin was kinda blue - toll guy looked at me, but stuck it in his pocket. Ah, youth...

like a Half Cent to pay for something just to see the cashiers reaction

Not that buy I do use a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel to turn those things on the bottom of cameras that require a coin to open.
I usually show people how to bite on a Gold Coin to see if it's real. Then hand it to them to see if they'll put it in their mouths.

Personally, I look to find them, not to spend them.

My buddies father ran an arcade and he would regularly pull out silver certificates from the change machine that changed dollars for tokens not to mention all the classic coins that came in and exchanged for tokens as well. This was early to mid 80's before you could play video games on your tv (just for all the yunguns that never experienced having to go to an arcade to play a video game)

What's an arcade?

PS: Actually, J/K. I may be an old guy, but at least I'm still very handsome.
