No kidding, they'll probably be pulled off of the shelf again if silver zips past $40/oz. Not to mention that the Mint's cost at the time of striking was probably $25/oz.

Thanks for the reminder. I just now ordered my 2011 silver proof set ... looking forward to seeing the coins in hand. David

One of the 2011 Silver Proof Quarters Sets I bought had what appeared to be a spot on the field of the Chickasaw Quarter. I popped open the lens. Upon loupe inspection, the spot turned out to be on the plastic insert inside of the lens housing. I forgot these new Sets have the coins sealed in a plastic insert card inside the lens. Maybe I should crack this particular Set open so I won't have to look at the OGP's distracting spot floating over the coin...

Mine arrived yesterday. Great looking coins. Quote: Why not crack them all? I have. They now reside with my clad and proof ATB Dansco. They look even better in the album. Although you can't tell the difference between proof and silver. Doesn't matter. I know.

Quote: jbuck: Why not crack them all? Only 81,287 of the 2011 Silver Quarters Sets have been sold as of last Thursday. If this Set fails to reach 100K before the next sales suspension, that particular box/COA could be an uncommon item (even if the inner blister pack has a nasty little spot over the Chickasaw Quarter ).

So, the more we crack, the more yours are worth, right?

Quote: So, the more we crack, the more yours are worth, right? Note: 86,375 (total) of the 2011 Silver Quarters Sets have been sold as of May 15th. I would bet that, percentage-wise, far more of the 396,539 2011 Silver Proof full Sets sold have been cracked. Silver's starting to go back up again, "all aboard"!

Sales of the 2010 Silver Sets were suspended on April 8, 2011, when Silver was $40/oz. Sales of the 2011 Silver Sets were suspended on April 19, 2011, when Silver was $43/oz. Sales of both resumed on May 5, 2011, with Silver at $35/oz. Spot price stayed in this "support" range for most of May. This week, Silver rose to $38/oz. Guess where I'm going today? It is true that the Mint could raise the prices of the Sets in the Federal Register, but this process takes several weeks, and a subsequent correction period would decrease the sales of higher-priced Sets.
