Great find! Wouldn't it be nice to find one a day of these? I agree with Franklins being a great coin. Maybe its just the historic aspect I appreciate. Ben Franklin was one of my favorite people in US History and I'm a patriotic enough to love idea of the Liberty Bell also being immortalized ion this coin.

I think most here in CCF completely understand what you're saying. I've just started looking at the franklins, still building on my Morgans and $2 1/2 gold Indians and can say the same about some of them. Good luck!

I'm not a huge fan of the Bennies, but that one is really nice. I'm a sucker for a circulated coin with dark fields and lighter devices. They just look so authentic.

Sorry I missed, someone asked what my skunk streak was when this one broke it? I had 13 Skunk boxes before this. There is ALOT of hunters out there right now.

I love the Benny halvs. This is a magnificent find! I have always wanted one. I wonder why they stoped making these, I mean who doesn't like old bald hippys?

I who never liked Franklins fell for them real hard about two years ago. I think it is their simplicity and their wholesomeness. Add that together with their reasonable prices makes the coin and the fact that they are 90% silver, I fell in love. I also like the fact that they are so fragile where any little scuff or ding shows up much more than on other coins. I like the challenge of seeking out coins that have managed to survive with minimal damage and wear. Lets face it, the Franklin is a downright exciting coin that is exciting to collect.

Ok - time to wax a little poetic on this!
I admit the simple design is something that initially threw me off of these being my favorite coin also. The Walkers, to me, have "more going on: in the design and I like them better from this point of view. However, I also have to admit that I think Franklin, himself, was a very simple, down to earth man (by "simple" I mean no nonsense and not dumb -- I could only hope to have a fraction of this man's obvious intelligence!). So I think from an historic tribute to this man, the coin design is a great one.
Now aren't we glad that his idea of the turkey being the National bird-symbol didn't come true or we might have a turkey on the back of this rather than our Liberty Bell?
