Mellowgirl, just to hit the basics P,D, and S are the three common mints;
D Denver
P Philadelphia
S San Francisco
There are others W West Point, CC Carson City, O New Orleans etc.
Only the P,D and S you will find on Sacagawea. Have fun.

My Dansco album Sacajewea with Proofs is C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E. ! ......

I just put the 2011 P, D, and S in there a week or so ago ! ....

And I prefer to have the B.U. P & D, and those beautiful Proofs in there...... REALLY looks sweet !

The P&D can be had from the Mint Sets as well. This ensures top quality condition for your albums !

The U.S. Mint also sells a "Mint Wrapped Roll" for Denver and Philly, for a premium. I collect these as well, but will never open one of these rolls because of the premium paid for them.

Getting P and D's from banks, or "in the wild" as they say, can be difficult because many banks choose NOT to order them.

So, ordering from the Mint, and fellow CCF members supply the ones I need.

Hi and welcome! I only collect the S mint or proofs. They are very beautiful IMO but as the others said take a look at the uncirculated and proof and decide what you like.

They stopped making Sacagaweas in 2008.

Here is another good site;
http://sacagaweadollarguide.com/

In 2009 the mint began production of the Native American dollar, and when they did, they put the mint marks on the edge of the coin, like the Presidential dollars. The coins are dumped in random into the machine that does this, creating a variety. There are two types (varieties), Type 1 has the lettering facing up when laying flat and heads up.

Type 2 has the writing upside down.

Some people collect both types, some don't. I do.

Thanks everyone! Those sights will be great.
Being in Canada I won't be finding too many in circulation. They have been creeping up because people think they are loons.
It might be a slow collection, but I really love the look of the coin.

I don't have enough posts to buy CCF, so I have to rely on auction sites or the mint.

I will agree to that, but will you agree with me that they stopped making Washington quarters in 1998?

When they "Officially" change it like they did the Sacagawea, sure.

True, but from 2005 to 2010 the mint set coins are not the same as the business strike coins. The dies are treated differently to impart a different finish to the surfaces of the coins and they are struck at a higher pressure.

Where can a Canadian get a Dansco album?

Is there a proof and a deep cameo proof? How can I tell?
