wow that idea about hitting up dealers for used albums is terrific. I will try that at the next coin show I got to.

Let them get to know you. Usually they are so busy and see or meet so many people they don't remember if your a steady customer or not. That way if you ask about old and/or used Folders and Albums, they may just give them to you. Most dealers don't try to resell them so they throw them away. Better to give them to a posible present of future customer as good customer relations. One of my favorite stories I use is I'll point at a coin like a Mercury dime and say I'd start collecting those if I had a Mercury dime Album. I sometimes wonder if they are catching on to my faked comments since I've been using it for years.

Well I have to Sound off on this one. I have used and loved my Dansco Type Set for years, but it needed to be updated with the latest releases and I could not order the required pages (New Cents, Nickels, Quarters and Dollars). After doing some research I thought that I would spend the extra cash for the improved protection of the Intercept Shield Type set. I liked the new slots for the latest releases and at first glance was going to be happy with the new technology. I was instantly disappointed, my Braided Hair Coronet Large Cent would not fit in the slot for it. OK moving on to fill the rest of the set and then to my dismay my Twenty Cent Piece would not fit. Called the Mfg. with no result. Does not surprise me it is Made in China. The only choice I have is to go back to my old Dansco and loose the almost $40 for an Album you can't fit the coins in. Was hoping that Intercept Shield would offer some reworked pages but no chance. I was just another sucker that lost his money and I don't feel right about dumping it on someone else through ebay (Don't need the bad feedback) STICK WITH DANSCO! At least the coins will fit in the album.

Looks like I'm another odd one out.
While I was refining my hoard a few months back, I opted mostly for the Littleton's, the least expensive folders I could find.
So far none have fell out as I've taken them from their shelf to check my latest minor find against the collection, and I'm content with writing in my annotations in pencil.
Plus, I like that shade of green.

Of course, if your sets are complete or nearly so, you could always go with Capital plastics, either stock or custom made.

I have 11 dansco's that my Aussie coins live in and 11 Whitman albums that my US coins have a home in. I also have 3 albums that take the 2x2's in to house my other collections in. As far as push in albums go I actually prefer the Whitman's, I've had a lot of strife with the danscos with coins falling out or the holes are just too darn tight there is a danger of bending the coin putting it in there. The most versatile are the 2x2 albums. I also have a few of the lighthouse boxes that hold 100 2x2's for some of my spare/doubles coins

I have 3 of the Intercept Shield albums for Indians, Mercs, and Peace dollars. I haven't had any trouble except for one coin I thought might be a counterfeit. It was just worn and a bit bigger in diameter. Everything else fit like a glove.

I like to make my own albums with 3 ring zip-up binders and coin sheets. That way I can just configure them any way I like. Can also put data sheets in them.
It's a really nice set up for my Roman imperial collection. The coins go in their coin sheets and I put up a sheet for each coin with a large photo and a short bio about the emperor/subject.

Down with albums Coins are meant to be held. I use capsules for all of my coins and display them how and where I want.

That's why I have albums. So I CAN take em out and hold em whenever I want. I cracked some out of slabs just or that reason. I wish I would have put the labels from the slabs in the back of the albums. It was one of those "oh no" moments when I saw pics of somebodies that had done that....DOH !

My grandfather passed down a bunch of Whitman albums to me, and I have since stayed with that tradition. I have never had a problem with mine. I do have one dansco album for my IH cents. It's nice

Once more for you Dansco Album Slide complainers. Simply remove the slides, use a scissors and cut a notch out of the end of the page where the slides are. Then you too would have that notch to grab the slides so you don't have to press on them by a coin to remove them. At a coin show last Sunday a dealer gave me a box of Albums and Folders and all free. Haven't counted them but appears to be about 50. Problem is about 75% are all for Canadian coins. Still all free.

Quote: Problem is about 75% are all for Canadian coins You see a problem, I see a new set building opportunity. It is a win for all because your new Canadian obsession will leave more Mercury dimes for the rest of us.
