Personally, it would bring me more joy to give that kind of stuff to kids. But it certainly is not pointless if you enjoy doing it!

Yeah I throw goodies into circulation all the time. I like to keep my collection small enough for just one book. Heck I even threw silver into circulation at times but not now due to to many people sending them in to get melted. It seems that kids are most fascinated with foreign coins than anything. Every once in awhile Ill give some foreign coins to kids. If I gave the kids silver coins then the parents would take over and keep them for themselves. To many greedy people in this world anymore.

Absolutely, although with metal prices these days, I've quit doing it with silver. I just had a rather tight week, so I grabbed some junk silver I'd forgotten about and totalled it up for liquidation. $400?

I've tossed a few horrible wheats, Ike dollars, $2 notes and other stuff back into the wild.

I too to that a real lot. As I accumlate change around the house, eventually I take that to a bank. I always throw in a few Wheats. I love spending half dollars at flea markets and some neighborhood stores. It is fun to watch the look on faces when you hand them half dollars.

When I worked at the bank I used to give rusted steel wheaties out to kids that were coin collectors at the bank, they were estatic since they had never been able to get them in circulation. I also had been saving 3 1934 series hundreds in my teller box waiting to get enough spare cash to buy them out, but one day my box ran low on money so the head teller forced me to give them out to a customer who could care less what the year on them was.

Back when silver was 5 or 6 bucks an ounce I used to put a lot of Mercury dimes into circulation. The price of silver today kind of makes it a bit tougher to do. I do still like to give some stuff out to people who I think will enjoy it. Gave a teller at my bank a Walker, a Franklin and some Barber dimes the other day. She was so excited she showed all the other tellers.

I always like the look on kids faces when you hand them an Ike dollar!! Almost as funny as when I tell kids that I used to watch B&W TV. They ask what that is? Priceless! KK

I put a lot of $2 bills, SBA, Ike's and Kennedy's back into circulation. Most people under 30 have never seen them so they don't know what to do with them. I once bought a rabbit from a 4H girl and paid $10 all in "strange" coins. It was great.

Today was really fun. I shopped at a local flea market and paid with all change. I had a sack of 100 wheats, 20 buffs, 2 winged liberty and 40 golden dollars from various series and oh yea I put a very poor silver Ike into the mix. I got laughs and surprised faces all day. I love coins.
