Actually the thing is the dealers here dont want to deal. They are withholding silver from people.

For those who live in areas without the convenience of a local dealer or coin shows - provident metals, and some other online shops offer reasonable prices. I would pay this price if I didn't have access to multiple local dealers.

I have bought from Provident Metals a number of times. Their shipping charges are lower than APMEX's and they have a good selection of metal bullion in various forms. Lately, however, a lot of their bullion bars have been out of stock. No telling when they will restock. Other than this, I have had no problems with them that would prevent me from buying from them again.

At the initial down turn of the silver market when spot was at $31. I looked at Goldmart.com and found them to be a little more than a dollar cheaper on their 2011 ASE. You might want to give them a look. Right now Goldmart is almost $2 cheaper. Provident is delaying their sales of 2011 ASE. Goldmart is selling!

I think they offer solid products with fair shipping like Ed said, as I have bought a few items from there before as well....

But also like Ed said, you will see they have nice items often out of stock unfortunately....

I post links all the time of good deals from there, like those 185 dollar 1 10th platinum Liberty's, good luck finding them on ebay for that price, proof or not....

I have bought from Provident and find them good to deal with. They are cheaper than APMEX, and also for me cheaper than my local dealers. Just bought some 10 oz bars this week.

You lucky dog, you! I have been drooling over some SilverTowne 10-oz. bars for quite a while now. I did get some 5-oz. silver bars but want to feel the solid heft of those 10ers.

I've purchased from Provident several times. They seem to have the best prices on most things when they're available. But service is important to me as well. Their staff is very friendly and goes the extra mile, whether you're spending $50 or $50k. Ships fast too. After placing an order, I usually have it on my doorstep within a couple of days.

And another thing too - they offer some great free resources for learning about different coins. Called 'Buying Guides,' they've helped me pretty easily learn about different coins. See http://www.providentmetals.com/know...g-guide.html for more
