SBAs can still be found in circulated rolls mixed with Sackies and Pres dollars.

Before the Presidential dollars were released I was searching mixed dollar rolls, SAC and SBA. Since SAC is essentially a not intended for circulation (NIFC) coin from 2002-2008, I was searching up until the Presidential dollar series was released and getting a fair number of SBA and 2000 and 2001 SAC. And I would score occasional proofs, and NIFC SAC. I've accumulated some Wide rim 79P as a result. They are definitely not common and I think the premiums placed on them are correct.

They are worth one dollar apiece, spend them on some better coins! I have to say this again SBA's are the ugliest coins the US Mint has ever made!

They are indeed ugly, but Franklin halves are the worst I think. Ben's ugly mug and a big bell. Ike's bald head in the middle of the field is bad too, but his reverse is alright. Not as bad as what I have already mentioned, but I've personally never liked nickel 3-cent pieces either.

Appears no one wants to Welcom you so I will. Possibly it's due to so many not liking those baby sized dollars. I know I sure hate them. Sorry.

I think their an ugly coin, but I do enjoy searching through them for all the above, One of my favorite finds is the PF 81 Type 2. My eyes always trick me looking for the Type 2 and Wide Rim. No matter how well I've got it down. Its frustrating but fun.

Pick out any wide-rims you find and spend the rest. And personally, I only find the SBA half-ugly; I happen to like the reverse.

So this topic started with how much SBA's are worth and it morphed into what is the ugliest coin. Interesting. So now I will put in my 2 cents worth. The SBA's are worth only 99 cents to me. I ask for other dollar coins at the bank regularly but I always turn down the SBA's. They are ugly and look too much like quarters (ok, I said it). But maybe I should look at the ones that I already have to see if I have any of those 'wide rims'. I never looked.

SBA's make interesting golf markers. Then again so do Sac's. Huge, yes. Practical, not really. But when you're as marginal a golfer as I am, it really doesn't affect the game and makes for interesting conversation (and settling the occasional ill-advised wager). That said I like SBA's. Not the prettiest coin out there, but eye of the beholder and all that. One of the more unique U.S. coins I'd say, and worth putting a set together.
