This actually got me into looking up why the quaker parrot is illegal to own in certain states
I found out that people are worried that since they are such hardy birds, if they became wild they would have the possibility of becoming an agricultural pest, eating up corn crops and such.

Ok, this is going to get a little ugly (but such is life)...

I went to the Ohio Coin Extravaganza today and, to my pleasant surprise, actually found some coins that I thought were worthy of, and priced fairly for, buying. I congratulate and thank the dealers that participated for being wise enough to include stock that appealed to a wide variety of customers. I had a young friend who is new to the hobby and is still trying to figure out how he wants to collect. EVERY single dealer we sat down and had a conversation with took the time to talk to my young (17 y.o.) friend and explain any aspect of what they had to offer as well as an overview of collecting strategy in general. My only complaint is that some lit out early but I can understand why they did that. I can guarantee that those that left early probably were looking for customers that had a lot more to spend than I or my young friend did.

I also have to say that this was an excellent show but I do have suggestions for improvement. If any of the organizers are on this forum and want my input they can contact me. I have over 33 years of marketing strategy experience. I'm not saying it always works, I'm just saying.

Anyway, this is Willow's Topic and I hope she continues to enlighten us so...

I made a purchase at the OCE (Please don't ever ask me to spell that out again - it is a good description but it hurts my mind to try to get it right every time. I have enough trouble trying to spell "the" correctly when typing. Usually it comes out as "teh". Of course, you will readily be able to argue that I could have taken the time to get the correct spelling and saved myself all this agony of explaining it to you but that would not be as entertaining.)

Where was I? Oh yes. I made a purchase and received a rather magnificent Kennedy half in change. I had to explain to my friend that this is the behavior of coin dealers and collectors for many reasons. (You all know you do this and you know why.)

I am sorry it took me so long to get to the point but I hope you enjoy the rest of the story. It will be in a follow-up post. And I have to warn you that there is an ugly aspect to the story. You have been warned.

Now, to those of you who do not own birds, or know about them, they have incredible eyesight. I normally don't notice planes flying over my house at 30-40K feet but my birds sure do and they follow them with their eyes.
It's hard to believe until you see it happen. They get wary.

They also notice things that are close to them. I'm sure you have seen birds picking bugs or worms out of your yard.

The fun part of this story is about to begin because it is close to Halloween.

My old neighbours used to have one - very smart, but I think he was into stamps!
