First coin is O-117a. Major pickups are: "Defect line" on right of "Y." 9 berries left, 8 berries right, the only reverse of this count with 4 leaves under the eagle's right wing. The leaves touching "I" and last "A" are confirmation. The sub-variety O-117a is defined by the radial die crack between the 5 and the first right star; there should be a thinner crack connecting the 9 and 5 which I think I can see.
Overton calls it R-4, and records indicate the subvariety is scarcer still. Heritage has offered 9 attributed examples of O-117a since 2000.
This is a $4000+ coin. Thank you for offering this wonderful piece for our perusal.

Second coin is O-108. The leaf pointing directly at the bottom corner of the "S" is what narrowed it down, and the defect in the milling at 6:00 reverse confirmed it. The last PCGS VF20 offered at Heritage was in 2008, and that coin sold for $4600. Yours is every bit its' equal. You've made my day, jeffrose.  |
