The post below on unsearched bags of Silver Dollars made me remember the million dollar exhibit of Silver Dollars, and a little web search turned up a great article on how it came to be, pictures are included!

Way more impressive than the Las Vegas casino "Binion's Horseshoe" display of 1 million dollars that I did get to see a few times, it was all $10,000 gold bearing notes in a large case of thick glass in a horseshoe shape.

I'm sure they thought it was way high at the time but I sure wish I could buy a few of those 1000 coin bags for $1500 now :)

I have an old black and white photo of my parents standing in front of those 1,000,000 silver dollars.

In 1962, my wife and I were celebrating our first year of marriage. What's that old saying: "If I only knew then...?"

I should have gone to Seattle!

But then again $1,500 was BIG money back then, I think I was making $65 a week!

I searched high and low for this photo, found 100 wheat cents tossed into assorted drawers, coin envelopes, flips, other photos still no photo of my parents. I pulled a desk drawer completely out and there it was underneath.

Cool!

I like the billboard ads on the sides of the semi trailers telling people there's a million dollars inside them! :P
