bishftl Pillar of the Community United States 1022 Posts	Posted 01/30/2012 10:59 pm i have 4 free coin grade coupons to use and didnt know what I should send in. I have 4 1959 proof sets and was wondering if I should cut out one of the franklins and get it graded? is it worth cutting apart a 59 set? I have tons of other coins I would like graded as well but since these coins are sealed and guaranteed untouched I thought it might get the best grade. a high graded set of 5 coins would be at least 10 times more valuable than the original set, wouldnt they. 1 of the sets have a cameo quarter. one set has a cameo franklin. and one set has a cameo dime. or should I send in the full set and get all 5 slabbed.? i have never had a coin graded before and have no idea where to begin with my collection. thanks for your input. bishftl Pillar of the Community United States 1022 Posts	Posted 01/31/2012 2:02 pm i have been doing the research, you wouldn't believe how much time I spend doing it, but I cannot say for certain the difference between say a 67/68 /69 coin especially if its in plastic like these. on these frankies it would mean a difference of low end $45 and high end possibly almost $700. the one step really can jump/fall in value. as far as I can see though there is not 1 flaw in this coin but obtaining that high grade sometimes seems like personal preference of the grader themselves. I've seen some real crap coins grade high and a lot of the time mine would blow them away. Report this Post to the Staff

You could send in the cameos and have a slabbed cameo set? 1959 isn't an expensive set though, but since you have the 4 free coupons, you are just paying for shipping both ways. It is a tough decision. I personally wouldn't do it, but I would prefer to use them on much more expensive coins, if you have any. If not, then it could be worthwhile to send them in. Or take them to a dealer that specializes in those slabs and get an in person opinion. That's probably your best bet, since most dealers don't charge for that service.
