Sometimes the cards are free for the asking, other times they require a purchase. The card shown here falls into the latter category as a $2 Quebec commemorative coin and a specially-produced Quebec 400th Anniversary medallion were included. The card sold for $12.95 back in 2008. I don't believe these are incredibly scarce, but I don't see them offered as often as I would have expected -- maybe I'm looking in the wrong places! The neat thing about the set for me is that the reverse of the medal features the same Samuel de Champlain design -- except for the inclusion of the denomination -- as is found on the 2008 Quebec 400th Anniversary commemorative silver dollar; the obverse of the medal features Quebec City's coat-of-arms. The nickel medal is 35mm in diameter. Enjoy! You're right, I'm in no hurry to fill the card with the circulation coins -- I'll likely just keep the two commemoratives in it (as issued by the RCM). Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! No, I did not purchase my card directly from the RCM; I was not aware of its release at the time. FYI: It's original RCM price was $12.95. My set was purchased on ebay for about the same price.
