Although I was just a minor participant I have really enjoyed every coin posted. As this thread winds to a close, let's give Moe a round of applause as he tunes up to accompany the Fat Lady Singing.

Quote: The 1878-S also had a mintage of 12K & Numismedia starts it at over $28000 in G-4. Why? I understand that as soon as the 1878 S mintage run was complete, the entire supply was seized and melted. I have heard a rumor that up to 20 may have not been melted. Any experts with the real and complete facts? Oh, and thank you for the kind words!

Another great 'Days of' thread is coming to a close and many thanks to Moe for putting it together. So many beautiful coins from a large group of participants. I can't post my 1878-S because it's out at the cleaners. In reading the last couple of pages it seems like the finale of a July 4th celebration - amazing coins everyone.
