Hi all! In August of 1984, the Royal Canadian Mint accidentally released a bag of 1000 quarters dated 1985. One of these found its way to the owner of my local coin shop, who sent it to ANACS to have it certified. The certificate is dated December 6, 1984. As a 20 year old coin collector, I bought the coin in January of 1985 and have held it ever since. I scanned the certificate and the coin and here's the picture; hope it shows up okay!
The coin itself appears to have been jammed in a vending machine during its short time of circulation, as it has scratch marks on the reverse near the rim. I have no plans to sell, but I was curious as to what sort of interest an item like this would generate. I could find little mention of the accidental release anywhere on the internet, so it is possible that few people even remember that this happened. Any feedback is welcome! Thanks!
wow thats a cool buy! I have always wondered how awesome it would be to find a 2013 coin in the change right now, I guess this was the same back in 84 !
