Value/Grade Downgrade For Damage Question?

jpo Valued Member United States 54 Posts	Posted 08/13/2012 3:04 pm I'm sure this has been asked before but since I am celebrating my 50th post I just decided to ask away. Let's say you have a coin with moderately significant value for illustration purposes only let's pretend this coin is something like an 1895-S Morgan in VF condition. I'm looking at a retail store that has that coin for $1099. Now let's say that coin has a decent sized gouge in the rim. Let's say like this coin I saw in another thread. Obviously that would slab Details only, but where a cleaned or Environmental Damage detail on the surfaces would drop the value by 50% or more, I think this one would fetch a little more than that.
