I'm not worried about the condition mismatch - new obverse die with old, worn reverse die - but the date looks funny to me. Not an expert, though.

This one does not give me the warm fuzzies. Everything is mushy yet I don't see any nicks or marks any where on the coin. I also don't like the details and shape of the 2. I have too many doubts to say it is genuine. Here's a high grade 1832 N-1 for comparing and see if I can find an N-2 and N-3 for comparing. Look at the flip at the end of the 2. 1832 N-2 1832 N-3

There are only 5 pairings for this year. N1, N1.5, N2, N3, and N3.5. N1's and N2's are small/med letters while N3's are Large letters. The halves N 1.5 and N 3.5 have doubled profiles. If this is a legit coin (which I dont think it is) It could be an EDS of N2. N2 should have a die crack from from 5th to 10 stars on the obv. I dont think it is N1 because the 10th berry on the rev should be under the M, where yours is under the A. Im suspect of the positioning of the left edge of curl in relation to the date...For N-1 and N-2 both the left edge of curl should be over the right curves of the 3... http://www.early-copper.com/1832.htmllink to an 1832 N2; the dates just dont match up imo hope this helps..

The date looks a little odd to me, but once again, I'm no expert either.

Heritage auctions has some great pics of of the 1832 N-1 Med Letters. I don't quite think yours matches up. That is as close of a match as I could find. Good Luck.

None of the 1832 varieties have the date that far to the left. Either unique or fake.

Check out the curl in front of the ear, compare it with the reference photo posted in your thread. See any difference? It's not looking good as far as a genuine piece.

I really appreciate everyone's input... There is also a "roughness" to all surfaces that smack of pour vice strike... He has a grunch of them up on the Bay now.... Some of his stuff is genuine. I just think all of his Early Coppers are fakes.... I had sent him back the 1880 Shield nickel that proved to be Proof vice MS and this coin was an "oh by the way" along with a partial refund... I'm debating whether to bite the penny on this one and log it to lessons learned. All the transactions were off the Bay so I really have little recourse.... The last verse of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" comes to mind.... "He left like one that hath been stunned and is of sense forlorn... A sadder and a wiser man he rose the morrow morn." Like the "sometime chicken, sometimes steak" metaphor... This is a "pork rinds with nothing to drink" moment.

algol pretty much covered it. In a nutshell, this coin is not legit. I'll block the seller.
