See a few of these on ebay, but not very many. One of my favorites in my collection. Would like some opinions on a grade.

Hi there Fishnwidow,

I would take a stab on this one, the cheek bone looks like there is wear, the eyebrow, the coat of arms has quiet a bit of wear on it as the two trees? on it has considerable wear, so I would give this coin a Fine, but that's my opinion, maybe one of the others could put me right. I am grading as to the UK standards.

But a very beautiful coin in any case. My Krause has a value of
$ 125.00 - VG
$ 145.00 - Fine
$ 170.00 - VF
$ 360.00 - XF

But these are the old 1979 5th edition, I think this price has nearly trippled in value if I am not mistaken.

I hope that the info is of help.
TY

Sorry got the name wrong.

Very nice example. These are not easy to grade due to the fact that they don't show up very often, but I would grade it VF-25, and guess the retail value between $175 and $225 dollars. Wholesale value would be about 70% of that.

Thank you for everyones input.
I finally found it in the back of my new 2007 RedBook.
F-12 $400
Vf-20 $500
EF-40 $750
AU-50 $1,500
Ms-60 $4,500
Ms-63 $11,000

Hopefully that price will go up in the next 10 years.

Kind of a late posting but I have recently discovered Hawaiian coins myself. Have a damaged quarter and a nice dime on the way. Casually searching for a half dollar but the dollar and 1847 cent are out of the question for now. There are fewer of each than the 1909 S VDB. If they were more known the value would jump.
