Hello

I was wondering what your take on this would be. I'm fairly new to "error hunting" and would appreciate your help.

Thank you

Photos can play tricks with the eyes. Are the extra impressions indented or do they stand out?

Rotated in collar!

Although the 98 looks to be incused, the other elements are clearly raised. It has an ugly gash that detracts a bit but who cares about grade on error coins?

This is quite the error! It's extremely cool! Double struck rotated in collar coins are rare, atleast on US coinage. I also believe that "gash" is actually a strike through. Although the primary image on the reverse looks odd I still believe its genuine. It has more of an outlined effect on the lettering and leaf than I've ever seen before, but maybe that's because its plated. Nice find!

To be sure if it is a strike through I would love to see a pic of that last denticle with a different angle - if it is inside the "gash" it would be a st. Regardless, the big thing is the double strike.

I am surprised how much detail is preserved in the fields of the reverse... the tail of the 9, being tucked into the word CENT, has me convinced. If you are new to error hunting, then, as a 1-cent error collector, all I can say is ' darn lucky rookie!!'

Great find!! Make sure you seal that coin in a PVC-free flip and low humidity, because you don't want those dark specks (2 o'clock on the reverse and 11 o'clock on the obverse) to grow. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to CCF!

Hello errorrorre

It's been a long time since I was here last...just noticed someone selling a coin that looks a lot like yours and am wondering if it's one and the same.
