...and the only force strong enough to create gold is a supernova! In fact, this is true for all metals heavier than iron, many of which make up the human body. I know we collect coins, but I like to think of them as star dust! :D

You can also make micro amounts of gold with a particle accelerator from mercury.

Yes, they can... but at what cost? A million dollars a gram? Something like that. Perhaps someday they will find a method for doing this that is MUCH cheaper? Technology has a habit of surprising us with things like that.

If gold leaf were 1/1000 as thich as a sheet of paper and one pixel represented the gold leaf thickness, then it would be 1000 pixels for the sheet of paper width. my monitor displays 72dpi shouldn't the line in the graph be closer to 14 inches long?
