I am in Gallup New Mexico on my way to Las Vegas(I don't WANT to go,I HAVE to go!). Anyway,I just bought a nice Zuni ring, coral, turquoise, inlaid in sterling silver. I also bought a matching(more or less) bolo slide made of the same materials. I know,it ain't bullion but it helped scratch the silver itch and it looks good on me so ,hey,I'm happy. Nothing better than silver and turquoise, without a doubt!

Quote: I am in Gallup New Mexico on my way to Las Vegas... My wife and I were down that way in 2010. We had quite a trip and found some interesting things along the way. Things like... the State of New Mexico does not "waste" money on public restrooms, unless you are on a major freeway. Making the drive from Roswell to Albuquerque is a study in bladder control, if ever there was one. Not that this bothered the locals. We saw several alongside the road, just "letting it fly". lol Also discovered that this part of the country is subjected to some horrendous dust storms. Yes, I said DUST STORMS. These seem to come out of nowhere sometimes and literally blot out the sun for a while. Lightning flashes inside the dust cloud as it swirls around and the wind roars. Nasty stuff. Was real glad to get the heck outta there!

I can't wear silver as jewelery as it turns me green or black or some color. There is something in my body that will not allow me to wear anything made of silver. I made a coin ring out of a 40% silver half and I can't even wear it very long or it does the same thing. I have an old Indian turquoise ring that has been handed down for generations (I am guessing from my American Indian ancestors) and I can't wear it either because of the same thing. I used to have a silver necklace and it started breaking me out I wore it so long as it only touched the back of my neck and I couldn't really see if it was turning my neck a different color or not.

Still want pics! I'm headed to the Isleta Pueblo in NM for a wedding. They are pottery makers, but there is quite a bit of turquoise silver around for me to pick up. I'll be there 2 weeks, looking forward to it.

Bryan, it sounds like a high copper content in your silver alloy. You did mention 40%. Yikes. Try sterling.

Yeah, but you gotta love those highway radio broadcast recordings, made my no less than Ricardo Montalban, which tell the local history of whatever part of New Mexico you happen to be passing through! Just skip that last coffee and enjoy!

Quote: Yeah, but you gotta love those highway radio broadcast recordings... That would have been pretty cool but we didn't notice any signs saying to tune to what channel for that. Maybe we did and thought that it was for traffic or weather info. Will have to watch for them next time.
