nothing wrong with a "mystery" purchase - adds a bit of excitement to things

I have purchased coins site unseen before from reputable people that I know that have an eye for coins. There are a couple of sites I visit that even today have NO pictures on their site (I know sounds unheard of today but they don't) because they turn over so many coins they would never be able to keep up. One is a strictly copper site and they are EAC members so every time they give a grade and its a grade I am looking for I have always gotten a better coin that I was expecting. I have even gotten coins on approval before from some of these dealers also

I would never buy a coin without seeing it. And I would never purchase a gun without firing it. Kinda confused on your arrangement, but hopefully it works out.

I am only looking for a MS 62/63 grade coin.

Please there is a significant price difference between 62 and 63 for this series/date. 62s can be found for near melt value while 63s usually trade for well over melt.

Obviously, it's your money but has this coin be officially graded by a certified grading company? How can you possibly know what you're buying if it hasn't. I'm not familiar with this coin so perhaps its considerable fungible and isn't graded. I think buying an ungraded coin from someone you don't know is crazy if the amount of money exceeds a few hundred dollars.

No, I do not think I have ever bought a coin unseen. Even if I buy the seen coin, I generally want assurance that I could opt out of the deal if not satisfied with the coin.

Why is a 2-1/2 year old topic back on the first page?

Not to be rude, but you don't even know if the coin is slabbed?

I was thinking the same thing.

Oh, and be careful, apparently the grammar police is on the prowl!

I didn't even notice the date of the post. I just commented because it was in the "last 100 active topics" column.

I have bought my motorbike sight unseen... I have bought notes sight unseen.. I would buy coins sight unseen... just depends on the source... and how much you don't mind risking..

Sorry for keeping this old topic alive.. but saw this in the most recent topics and thought I would add my two bits

I too am not sure why this popped back into the current threads.

But the coin in question is now one of my favorite coins.
It came in a older green label PCGS slab MS/63.

I cracked it out to complete the gold page in my Dansco 7070.

The pictures I took back then must be on my old laptop.
but here is one of the coin in a group picture
(the 1932 $10 Indian)

IMO - If you are dealing with the right people, then buying site unseen can work out.

Was this actually bought sight unseen, or simply purchased not having seen it yet? BIG difference.
Rest in Peace

If you knew ahead of time that it was in a PCGS MS63 holder, I would say not too big of a risk. Its a generic coin in that grade.
