Does anyone have or collect elongated pennies? In cleaning out some old stuff left by an aunt who used to travel a lot I found several elongated cents, one from the World's Fair in Chicago in the 30's, one with the Lord's Prayer on it, Battleship Texas, Yosemite National Park. Been thinking of adding to this collection and building a custom display frame to hang on the wall..
is there any organized club or market or ? or do these just pop up as incidentals such as my find? Do they have any interest among coin collectors are am I an Oddball?
I just started a elongated cent collection for my daughter, I think they are very cool and rich in history. I am sure there are some clubs for elongated coins but I would have to do a search to see what I could find because I don't know of ant right off the top of my head
I too have a couple of these my favorite is from a 1934 Chicago World's Fair penny with the 1928 penny still visible from the back. I would post a pick but do not know how. sorry
