Just out of curiosity, what's the significant of the 1911 large cent?

saw a post on Kijiji the other day (http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...dZ448239159) and I did some digging and found this on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nice-Grade-...m337f43fa0e)

So here I am just wonder, did that person's father really spend $150 on that coin?

It is 'godless' though, which was apparently a big deal 100 years ago.
