Also among the Australian pennys was this 1937 British penny. Another bonus.

None of my adventurous purchases will bring me wealth...but all have brought me a touch of history.

Hehe...

Just for if you're interested, I have some nice examples of Pennies going at the moment in the auction forum at the moment with some really nice condition examples. Altogether, 19 pieces for $17. My favourite is probably the toned '46 :) that looks a nice EF

The 1933 penny is very, very, very, very rare

So rare infact that depending on the type it can be worth up to £50,000

Funny story actually, my gradad once used one to buy a packet of fags

Only in a magazine.

Funny story actually, my grandad once used one to buy a packet of fags.

That must have been the dearest packet of fags ever.

There are only about 5 known to exist and they were patterns not issued for circulation.

I never knew about the 1933 Penny at first.... so is it about the same as the 19531952 Halfcrown ?

There are just one or two of those thought to be extant after a small number of them accidentally slipped out into circulation. None were supposed to be made because of the copper needed for the Korean War (I think?)..
