Possible Canadian Proof Nickel - Coin Community Forum

Kurrykid Valued Member United States 455 Posts	Posted 02/07/2013 11:49 pm I was doing some CRH today and came across a almost perfect 2008 Canadian Nickel. It looks like a proof. Since I am from the US, I don't have a whole lot of experience with Canadian coins. Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can tell if it's a proof or not? I am not even sure about mint marks with Canadian coins. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Report this Post to the Staff

Raligard Valued Member United States 79 Posts	Posted 02/12/2013 7:33 pm It could also have been removed from a set and put into circulation by someone who wasn't interested in the set or value, such as a kid. I've seen specimen quality coins in circulation on more than one occasion, both when I lived in Canada and here in the USA. Always makes me cringe a little and I rescue them most of the time. Some of my nicer finds include a 1909 VDB Wheat penny (Pretty roughed up, but still lots of original luster, a 1974 PL Canada Penny, and a 1967 PL Canada penny. Report this Post to the Staff
