Would someone be able to let me know what this error is, please? This LMC has a very weakly stuck obverse and a normally struck reverse. I am not even sure of the date it is so weak. It is a weird looking penny.

As always, I appreciate any help.

I'm thinking a capped die strike or a huge grease strike through! I'm a new member as well though so I would be in your position, wait for the pros.

Struck through a late-stage die cap. Nice find.

Thanks for identifying the error. Being new to the error coin genre, here is my obligatory stupid question: Is this something to hang on to? I'm assuming it has some value based on the replies.

Nice find. You should try some Verdi-Care on it.

Yes, well more precisely, "bag-hunting". My bank will still let you bring in your loose change and they will count it for you at no charge. I have made friends with the tellers that do this. When they fill up a $50 bag they give me a call and I come buy it. After going through it I return the coins I don't keep. I usually give back more than $49, so it costs me less than a buck for a several day's worth of entertainment. Although a couple of weeks ago I found over a thousand WB's in one bag, but more importantly that is where I found the 1994 LMC DDR-01 I posted earlier.

I've thought about buying their big plastic bags of loose pennies. I always just assumed they were other hunters dumps but I imagine there's some good stuff in there too like what you've been finding. Thanks.

I was able to get a 50 dollar bag today, yesss ! You never know what kinda stuff people bring in to cash out. Doesn't look like someone's dump coins either.

I would hate to be the one that got that bag after any of you had a go at it. What a waste of time that would be! lol
