$10 Dollar Bill Series 1981A With $20 Overprinting

jmkendall Pillar of the Community United States 1590 Posts	Posted 07/17/2013 5:43 pm This Bill has been overprinted with a $20 bill on both the obverse and reverse. What is this error called? Is it valuable and if so is it worth slabbing to maximize it's value? Or is this a "ho-hum" type of error? thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

GoldenChest Pillar of the Community United States 814 Posts	Posted 07/17/2013 8:24 pm Im going with PPD(post printing damage) The extra extra ink shows signs of different denomination 1 and 20. also differnt districts. And the image is on both sides of the note. I dont think that this is possible with the way bills are printed. It was either done as a science experment or someones wallet received a chemical spill that caused the image transfer. I dont believe it to be a genuine error, and therefore valued at $10. I recently went through my books pulling out the bills I had stuck in them and this came out. I had totally forgotten about it. Report this Post to the Staff

If that $10 had really been ghost stamped with a $20 by BEP the ink would just be stronger to the point that some of the ghost print ink should match the actual ink proper to the $10 note.
