Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 05/31/2007 02:06 am I think ebay is weighted toward the sellers since they pay the bills ,, the whole secret is finding the buyer friendly sellers ,, and being fairly well educated on the coins your buying ,, as well as decerning from sometimes less than quality pictures those coins which are what they claim to be !! I have always wondered about those guys who put such ridiculous prices on there wares that they actually repel buyers !! sometimes I think it is the fear of losing money other times I think it is pie in the sky unrealistic values placed on coins from a total lack of education of the market ,,and then are just those who are looking for a sucker . But a lot of the rediculous prices come from dealers with thousands of feedback. Maybe people seldom bite, but the few that do make it economically practical to set them so high. frenchcoin Valued Member United Kingdom 59 Posts	Posted 05/31/2007 11:06 am I'd say it was a buyers market.The prices on ebay for some coins to me seems to be too high,and when the auctions are started lower with no reserve imo they go for under the market value. ageka Pillar of the Community Belgium 2078 Posts	Posted 05/31/2007 11:51 am Bargains can only be had if you are not a collector of series or of must have pieces Some coins allways go high whomever is selling them Other coins will only go high if a certain seller is selling them I was bidding on 6 canadian proofs and was twice second bidder at 8% over melt which is too high since there were no certificates nor boxes but the guy allways get good prices nothwithstanding he just confessed he is selling the second set of coins with pictures of the first set Report this Post to the Staff

However, the sheer volume of sellers, of all kinds of experience, makes it possible for a discriminating buyer to make some truly wonderful rips. Ask me. I know.
