I have a dateless Standing Liberty quarter in my collection. I have done a lot of research regarding the differences between the 1916 and the 1917 SLQ, but I still cannot be certain of which one I have. I know for certain it is a Type 1 Philadelphia Mint (No stars below the eagle on the reverse side, and no mint mark.) From what I can tell, there is only 1 hair curl, but I am not certain about the other variables that differentiate the 1916 from the 1917. I know it has something to do with the gown near the ankle, and the beads near the top of her head. Obviously I would love for it to be the 1916, and because of this I fear this desire may influence my investigation. I need a clean pair of eyes to help guide me in the right direction. Thanks for all your help!

Given the look of the loop on the bottom of the skirt, I am going to have to say 1917.

Rivets on the shield are too strong for 1916, so I'm also going with 1917.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Is the coin still valuable as a 1917? Or is it just worth melt value? I really appreciate all the quick replies.

Thanks for posting that comparison image. I'll have to keep an eye on the junk silver bins. sbrunsting16, I've never seen a 1917 below AG03 carry any premium.
