I've never seen Pompey coins, or at least I haven't studied them-- so whether these devices appear on genuine coins, I have no idea. At a glance my impression is that it is fake. The obverse devices appear shallow, like a copy of an impression that wasn't pressed hard enough to transfer all details. The profile (Athena?) looks more like Chemo Barbie than an ancient goddess.

Can you give us more information about this coin? A link to the seller's listing, or did you buy it already?

Edit: found the ebay listing, http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ROMAN-...em3f2861e4ce

Is the the Belgian ebay seller maridvnvm has warned us about many times?

Helmeted head of Scipio Africanus as Jupiter.
Rev. Is Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. I have one of theses. There are fakes of this coin, I will have to look closer later as I am on my phone.

Interesting!

Here are the coins on wildwinds: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear5/s0173.t.html

Take a look at the pictures and see what you think. Profile looks wrong to me. I didn't spend more than a moment looking at them though.

Yes, I tried to subscribe but windows 8 just takes me to an empty message. I am hoping admin will let us have a sticky to keep these sites. I know I would find it very useful.
