Thanks, guys... I remember looking at my Red Book and seeing the picture of the coin... I look at EVERY nickel I go through by date. When I saw it, a light went off in my head...

Well, I did hear back from Mr. Bowers today... he's a busy man! He told me that "I have only heard of a handful! ... I paid $25 for my VF."
I don't think he ever found his BU coin... so the plot thickens!

Congrats, Xsaechao! Yours looks to be in the XF-40 to 45 range judging by the obverse, though it's hard for me to tell if there is any mint luster on it. Do you have a picture of the reverse? Given that Q. David Bowers paid $25 for his VF coin, and that he was offering $1,000 for an MS-65 or so, I would guess your coin is in the $50-$100 range. ckrakowski, no idea where to buy one. I've found one in approximately 600,000 nickels searched. Your best bet might be to contact Mr. Bowers as per the first post on this thread to see if he knows of anyone who has an example they're willing to part with: Quote:
He can be reached at his private email, qdbarchive@metrocast.net, or at Q. David Bowers LLC, Box 1804, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
