A few years back, I started the World Variety Gallery. Since there are few online resources for world coin varieties, this will be a place to post diagnostic pictures to help collectors collect and identify variety coins.
Some posting guidelines for the gallery:
- Keep it simple: post a concise description of the important details with a picture clearly showing the variety. For example--overdates should show a closeup of the date--see the gallery for examples.
- Keep the quality high: Post your best errors and varieties. Of course, this is a judgment call. But, minor die chips and centering errors are probably best left to forum posts.
- Keep discussions off the gallery.--to keep things clear and easy to navigate.
- Gallery is subject to editing by the moderators for content or for clariity
