Hi. I use to get rolls of half dollars from the bank and search them for 40% and 90% silver. I did ok back in the day but stopped the search a few years back because I was no longer finding anything. My question: Is searching through rolls of halves for silver still worth the time/search? Who is still having luck out there finding the good stuff?
I'm halfway through my first box and no silvers, but five or six NIFCs. If I don't turn up anything, no big deal, as that I don't have to sit and stew about not having the guts to try.
Lots of competition searching the halves nowadays, I dont have the patience due to my minimal finds, but like everything else, put time and effort into it and you may be rewarded.

Not sure about searching for silver, as I haven't found any and do not search for that. missing 2 silver for Kennedy and only have a single Franklin and Liberty half. Not making much progress on filling holes with them currently, except for lots of post 2001. the elusive 1987-D and the few silver are all I need to finish a book. At this point I would trade a spare 40% for the 1965 I need, and not sure about getting the 1964 if that is even possible since people would likely not trade a 90% just for a 40% in return. Too many silver hoarders or silver melters in recent years and collectors get left with nothing left to fill holes it seems to be in many areas.
