Interesting US Token From 1850... - Coin Community Forum

thusdayclub Valued Member Poland 263 Posts	Posted 03/21/2014 4:22 pm Hello everyone. I am affraid, that I post this in wrong place, but maybe someone here knows something about tokens/medals. Especially, that bird from reverse looks very similar:) But seriously, eagle and whole reverse is awesome and I like it in the new edition. It is very hard to find something about this token at internet, only what I have found it is info from ebay auction, that it is R-7 token and is listed for 125$. But I also saw sold examples for 20-30$, but in bad shape. I paid for it 45$, can anyone from here tell is this price is good? I feel slightly guilty and I don't know why... Thank you for your help. She performed concerts under his management then continued giving them under her own management. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_Lind I'd guess this token was issued between 1850 and 1852 while she was touring the US. Do you have any more info about this piece? MeadowviewCollector - yes, I read this also. This token has very interesting story and if I bought it for good price, I would be very happy with this purchase. I hate to overpaid... ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4421 Posts	Posted 03/22/2014 09:03 am IMHO, looks to be a genuine piece. It's a game counter or spiel marke, made in Germany. The engraver was Ludwig Christoph Lauer (1817 - - " 1873) whose name appears at the base of Jenny's neck. I think you paid a fair/reasonable price for it. I see far more of these with Lincoln or Washington's bust. This piece would fit nicely into a collection of tokens/medals of famous people. ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4421 Posts	Posted 03/24/2014 1:53 pm The aspect of collecting tokens and counterstamps that I most enjoy is attaching history to them and "making them talk" so to speak. There are probably a good many Jenny Lind items (go-alongs, I call them) that would accentuate ownership of this token and form a mini-collection to share with others. Enjoy!
