Pretty undecided on the grade everyone seems to be. Some of you think AU and some MS. I'm thinking ms quality also. It's on ebay. I made an offer that was declined. But I may have to go higher cause I only need three more quarters to finish my dansco book. This one, a 1937S, and a 1935D. So far I have just a few below ms quality. The rest are uncirculated. I want MS as much for the set as I can. Thanks everyone, keep grading this one for me and help me make up my mind on what to offer next. Help me whith the price if you want also

I don't want to bet Jessie, but it believe I see wear on the ear curl. The photos, or scans, or whatever they are are so monotone that I am calling wear and AU. In hand would be an easy call. I want better pics! Spud, If you get it, please let us know what it looks like! I looked on the bay, did not find it. Must be gone now . . . . Kinda off topic, but the 40-D was the toughest coin out of the series for me. I was looking for MS65, and look EVERYWHERE for the right coin at a reasonable (not cheap by any means though!) example. Finally found one from a small dealer in New Hampshire. Still paid a tad too much, but I was getting desperate and really, it wasn't that bad a deal.

My opinion hasn't changed. Spud, what did you pay and who'd you buy from? Jon, did you find that coin at a show or b&m? I would guess a place in Plaistow maybe? Here's my 40d. Man, I got lucky when I found this one. Photo doesn't even come close to doing it justice.

Sorry I was late responding, I forgot to hit the subscribe button. Spud, I am leaning more toward MS now. Looks like a good solid strike with just a nick or two on the portrait. Might go 64-65. That white sort of powdery color haze shows up now and then and what looks like rub may be contact with sister coins knocking the haze off. As dull as that surface is, I might be tempted to dip it. If it weren't headed for the Dansco, I believe it would be worth submitting for grade. Jesse, the dealer was "Rare Coins of New Hampshire". A gentleman named Dave that treated me quite well. It is in PCGS plastic as a 65. I think it is solid, but not overgraded. Ole' George is not nearly as beat up as the photos suggest. Something about my camera picks up little marks and makes them scream!!

I agree with jesse My friend who worked for ngc told me the first thing to look at on a Washington quarter is the hairline and forehead 63 is my guess and no I wont bet against a person who calles themselves washquartjesse on a Washington quarter.

Jon. That's one crisp strike! I am familiar with them as well. They have the buzzer door at the bank. They only deal with premium stuff mostly.
And thanks Mikey lol. Must be nice to have a buddy like that.

OK you guys are making me jealous with these two Telly nice 40 d's. Mine went in the dansco for now, only got a 1937s and 1935d left to fill it. Thanks for your comments and sharing beautiful examples of a very hard coin to find!
