Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6400 Posts	Posted 04/03/2014 7:51 pm The 1904 is just about the most common Liberty double eagle and has a bullion-related price until you get to high MS grades. The 1850 is the clear choice here based on value alone, although the eye appeal is also pretty good. There are a lot of small marks but nothing that rises to the level of an obvious problem. It has AU detail with good luster. I wonder if the hairline scratches especially on the reverse might cause it to be flagged as cleaned by a grading service. I would have it graded if it were mine, to establish whether it qualifies as "no problem" and to certify authenticity. Hey, if it grades no-problem AU-50 you can sell it and buy two 1904 coins in at least MS-63! Report this Post to the Staff

With better light and a 10X glass, I can see that all three, the 1850, 1866S and the 1872 have a lot of cleaning lines. So not sure how much the cleaning would drag down the value of these coins.
