I bought this coin today thinking is a large 8. Mai I'm wrong with it? The 0 and 8 are large and the cross look over the bow.

Ahh.. just posted my own topic about a 1908 5 cent yesterday (https://goccf.com/t/175030)

Your coin is a small 8. This is what a large 8 looks like

How is the relation of your pictures with those in the Charlton? I'm a bit confuse. The 1908 large 8 seems to have a cross/bow. The 8 and 0 look more bold then the other one (the 2 holes in the 8 looks smaller).

I try to stydy your 2 pictures with those in the Charlton.

Thanks for your help

Voltigeurs, cross over bow such as your coin has indicates small 8.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Small 8 link with cross/bow

large 8 link with cross only

Thanks!

Correction

Small 8 links with cross/bow - this is correct

Large 8 links with "BOW" only.
