Good day all , I had a great day today that happened purely by chance . I walked into the main branch of the city of Sudbury post office in the down town and discovered that they had 2011 coins on sale for 40 % off and 2012 coins for 25 % off . Sweet ! I took the opportunity to purchase the 3 coin " Continuity of the Crown Series " for $131.94 for all 3 ( each in its own clam shell box ) and 2 2012 20 for 20 coins for $ 30 bucks . The teller told me that it is a common practice for them with coins that are unsold after 2 years or more .You can bet that I will be visiting this post office more often .

I wish the post offices in the U.S. sold coins.

Always fun to find a good deal. 20 for 20 at a discount? The post office should have thought that one through.

Wow that is a great score!! I paid $329 for my continuity of the crown set. It was my first silver Nclt purchase that launched me into coin collecting in July 2012. Two yrs later and I probably have 1,000 coins of all varieties. It's been quite an addiction for me. I do enjoy it vary much, along with the comeraderie of other collectors.

Do they have any of the bird coins left?

pocket change 50 , there were no bird coins left , what I seen in the display case for 2011 were some of the 2011 crystal snow fake coins and a few others . There were also some 2012 coins that I guess there was little interest in .What the counter person told me was that about every 6 months they reduce the price of the coins from the previous year to move them .I had seen and purchased some at 25 % off before but I had not seen them at 40 % off until that Friday I went in . I try to go into the downtown post office when ever I am in the city to see what if any special they might have and so far it has been good .It can be a great way to build up a collection at a little less of a cost and the people there are always friendly and enjoy taking the time to chat with you .

I second that statement that was made by another member, I really wish the USPS sold coins.

Look, they carry stamps. They carry all sorts of other items that are not related to the USPS... why not dabble with coins. I mean come on.. plus with the long lines it would give everyone a chance to catch the coin collecting fever looking at them while waiting lol

yup7676 I think it also gives the post office the right to offer any unsold coins at a discount that you would not get other wise . I guess the only real limiting factors is how many people shop for coins at the post office . I am glad I walked in that day .
